Seeing that character tearing ass out of the bathroom with his pants down nowadays makes me laugh my ass off, but when I was a kid I distinctly remember watching Boggy Creek in our living room, lights out with my father and when that hairy arm came through the window I must have screamed like a little girl...

Any one else remember watching Boggy Creek as a kid? Where you saw it ? Who with? Your reaction to the movie ?

I saw it at the local cinema. I was a frightened kid. Patterson-Gimlin film was also shown before the movie.

Oh hell yes... Saw it when I was probably 12-ish, late 70's or so. It was probably a Saturday afternoon movie on TV... remember when they used to play monster movies on Saturday afternoons?
To this day, it bothers me to have to use a john that's got a window right next to OR, God forbid, right behind it. Seriously, at 42 years old, I still lean as far in the other direction as I can.

I remember seeing it in the 70's also, but I was 7 or a little older....I remember being scared but excited at the same time. Shortly after, relatives started buying me bigfoot books...first one was a paperback with a yellow cover and a shadowed silouette of bigfoot on the front. Had photo inserts in the middle.
Let it begin.....

I'm beginning to wonder if my memory of Boggy Creek is muddled with something else. In the clip with the guy taking a dump (with his undercrackers still on

) that's a very hairy arm that comes through the window.
What I 'remember' most is not seeing the creature until the end - then it looked like a pile of water weeds draped over a figure bulky - with a song in the background about 'I wonder if there is another creature such as I'.
Help?

The Swamp Thing ?.....
I think you got most of it right but I don't remember the creature ever being draped in weeds.
If I remember correctly, throughout the movie they only showed brief glimpses of a hairy figure besides the hairy arm coming through the bathroom window.

That movie scared the squat out of me when I was young but that bathroom scene made me laugh even then. It still does.
I'm like Stacy though... I use the sit and lean way over approach for bathrooms with a window anywhere near the tidy bowl.
There is a scene in the movie that I was told about and I had to go back and watch it. When the girl is getting out of bed, she...I'll just say that for a split second, it's obvious that she ain't wearin'

no panties. I swear it's in there.
No, I'm not a perv, I just didn't believe the person who told me that so I watched it for myself.

I remember seeing the commercials for The Legend of Boggy Creek when I was a child. I forced my mom to take me to see it along with The Mysterious Monsters which was narrated by Peter Graves.
Both tripped me out and instilled a tremendous desire to see a resolution to the BF phenomena. Sadly, some thirty years later I am still unsure what to believe.
Boggy Creek looks and sounds a tad hokey now IMHO. But back in the day, it was the schnizzle to a wide eyed kid. I could relate to the kid in the movie who came up on the creature thinking his dogs were running a deer since I grew up in the remote woods of South Georgia. I spent copious amounts of time hunting alone in and around the Ocmulgee River. After seeing the flick, I used to wonder what I would do if I saw the Big Guy.

This may sound more stupid than usual - but I didn't realise Boggy Creek
was a bigfoot movie when I saw it. I caught it in the mid 80's as something to plug into the new toy (huge, clunky, top loading VHS

).

Well, that's no excuse for NOT going to the outhouse alone after dark.

edited to add: NOW you can understand MY obsession with 'windows' back when my son had the two sightings back in 2003. Even before that second one happened, I'd always had this fear of looking up at one of the windows and see something looking back at me. I don't know if that scene made an impact on me or not, but I remember having dreams about something reaching thru a window after ME. *shutters*

That's the scariest thing I can think of is looking out the window and having something out there looking in at me. That 911 call gives me the willies when the operator asks the guy what's he doing sir? The guy says he's looking at ME!

Thats what a very dear friend of mine had happen to him as a child. Had one looking into the bedroom window. Until he told me that styory, I didn't know why he is so obsessed about these things. I understand now to say the least why he wants this mystery solved

First time I saw the movie was probably around 1974 or so at the theater. After we got home, I stepped around back behind the house like all country boys do to relieve myself. You didn't dare piss in moms yard so I stepped over the back fence. We raised hogs in those days, and dad probably had 40 mommas or so. I'm standing there taking a leak not knowing anything was around and it was so dark I couldn't see squat except for the lights in the house, when something cold and wet stuck it's nose right below my right ass cheek and grunted......I lost it
How I got my junk back in my pants, flat footed jumped straight up and over that fence without getting wet is beyond me (almost shit myself from the strain of it all though)
I took off running for the house before I realized what the hell I was doing, and that it was one of dads sows that stuck her nose to me. Just about the time I started to get my shit together again, out from behind mommas old ringer washer jumped my little brother screaming like a banshee...
Well, about the time I hit the front porch, I realized I just kicked my little brother in the face, and dad would probably kick my ass..
I went back to check on him and found him dazed, but laughing his ass off cause he FINALLY got me...
I liked the movie, but it damn near sent me into cardiac arrest and caused me to hurt myself and somebody else.
I kicked the hog the next day.

That's hilarious!!
Timber got cold nosed by a hog!
When the movie came to town, I saw it 3 weekends in a row. I don't know why I went 3 times because it scared the crap outta me every time. The scream of the thing, the arm through the bathroom window and the scene where it grabs the guy in the front yard were the worst scenes for me.
Teresa
Jul 3 2008, 04:02 PM
That scream gave me nightmares!! The girls with the hair rollers trying to stuff bullets in that rifle was up there on the fright scale for me and that little boy running all alone at dusk back from the store when that scream came from the woods... ohmuhgawd.. I thought "RUN BOY RUN!!"
Or the scene where the kids are playing in the field and their mother comes to round them up. It's right at sundown and you see her standing up and looking around while shading her eyes. I expected the monster to get her at any second!
I think I need a Boggy Creek fix today.

A few years ago I was visiting Mom, and my twin brother was on leave and was at home too. He had gone out with friends, and the rest of us had gone to bed. I'm a very sound sleeper, but suddenly I'm awakened by a big hairy arm breaking through the window. I literally screamed like a girl!
Then I *really* woke up. My brother had returned home and was knocking on the window so I'd let him in, because we'd locked him out. Somehow my brain turned that knocking sound into a bigfoot breaking in. My brother was laughing his ass off because in my dream when I screamed, I screamed aloud. The next morning, everyone was laughing at me for my girly scream in the middle of the night.
Thanks, Boggy Creek!
I also hate when there's a window next to the toilet. If the house is in the city, it doesn't bother me. But if I'm out in the country... forget it.

Hi
I love the movie, very simple and uses some down to earth folks, No big time movies stars in this flick, I bet i still pop it in about once every month or so, Sometimes i just put it in while i am out side on my front step or on the deck, As long as i can hear it i can see the part it is at, Boggy creek was a big Drive in movie when i was a kid, Guess there are a lot of old memories that is stirs up every time i watch it, Maybe that why it has so much staying power with me, I think i would like to see an updated version, As long as it was not too over done
Peace

I would have first seen Legend of Boggy Creek in the mid 1980s.
When I was at my grandparent's place, I had to walk across a small meadow to get to the house. I always imagined the creature from that movie bursting out of the treeline, and chasing me down as I was crossing that meadow, the feeling got stronger as I neared the house. When I go out there today and am walking across that meadow, a little voice inside of me says *Sean, check behind you.....*
I always thought the 'Arm through the bathroom window' was funny, even as a kid.

Nah... I hate it when they update and remake old movies. It never comes with the same feeling and too often it's too overdone and too over the top. My memories are connected to the original.
