That slug thing was pretty cool.

Why is the background bright but the foreground dark?
Drew
I think it was the slug crawling across the flash and casting a big ol' shadow.

Good Point.
If the illumination came from the camera - then the object moving across the screen should be illuminated on the camera side.
The fact that it appears as a shadow means that the light was coming from the side opposite the camera lens.
Hmmmm.........

JMO but the 2001 Sasquatch looks like someone put their finger in front of the lens to set off the cam
and then it took multiple shots.

a single frame may have devulged the finger
But

JMO

Good Point.

Isn't it? I also note in the slug picture the subject is reasonably exposed but the area of grass (?) is washed out exposure wise*.

In the picture of the 'suspected' it appears that the tree line is fairly correctly exposed yet the subject is grossly underexposed - suggesting to me that the flash is an off-camera 'slave' unit - but I admit I don't know game camera system capabilities.

*Later thought - I suspect the slug is translucent & being lit by the overexposed grassy area, as opposed to being underexposed, which it would be if it were opaque.

Hmmm indeed....

I think John WS is right about the remote light. It is a remote light, and someone is walking infront of the light casting a shadow into the cameras field of fire. It may even be a case of one of the people who set up the thing out there trying to fix something and not even realizing they are casting a shadow into the cameras view.

Which perhaps brings us back to:

Only if he wears a baseball cap.

We could collectively be on to a reasonable (if somewhat speculative) explanation.

Edit: To add perhaps.

Any idea which Chehalis this is from?

Here you go: Clickeroo...

There's a link at the bottom of the article that takes you to 'Results', then on there is a link to 'shadowy images' (or something). Cue Julie Andrews - 'Which will bring you back to Do'
