As the title says, this was recorded the 26th around 2130 hours near the Ouachita National Forest. The recorder was not manned at the time. In four hours of recording this was the only anomalous sound recorded.

Interesting sound. I've heard these while camping, but just like in the recording it's usually a one time thing and probably not any communication. Does sound like a solid smack, but acoustics can be deceiving in the woods.

Sounds like a far off shotgun. I'm sure it sounded different in person, though.

Interesting, I kind of favor the woodknocking for communicating theory... It explains why there are sightings of bigfoot carying "clubs". I dont think they are meant as weapons( although im sure the clubs are innocently menacing to an inadvertant human observer), but as tools of communication similar to us carrying a cell phone....
